High-heels question

I wonder whether there has been any studies on women who wear high-heeled shoes as opposed to flats and their likelihood in developing osteoporosis.  It seems to me that whenever I wear high-heels, my lower back has the sensation of feeling weaker and sore.  I wonder if displacing one's weight-balance via high heels long term may eventually alter bone growth.  With long-term high-heel use, I certainly notice atrophy in certain leg muscles and stiffening in other areas; perhaps this pattern of weakening/stiffening might eventually travel on to the supporters beneath, the bones.
