Osteoporosis/osteopenia Asians and osteoporosis

I am interested in osteoporosis/osteopenia and prevention. Like many middle-aged men and women, my mom was diagnosed with osteopenia in her lower back some years ago. Earlier in her life, she had gone through c-sections during childbirth and therefore her core area (tummy/lower back) had always been weaker due to the old cuts to that muscle area. She decided to join a gym and has been exercising daily since. She is very committed to exercise- not just for the osteopenia, but for her overall health. Fortunately, her latest results prove that regular and disciplined exercise, even post-menopausal, can really strengthen your bones!
Above, I also mentioned that I am interested in Asians and osteoporosis. Being Asian-American has allowed me to experience different lifestyle perspectives in food and medicine between Eastern and Western cultures, and I wonder about how knowledge of certain lifestyles can help those with osteoporosis.
