should I take more calcium if I take Prilosec?

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 07:52 PMI take synthroid as well as Prilosec twice a day. I am 58 with osteopeania. I tried Fosamax and couldn't take the pain in my back. Should I take more than 1200 mg a day to offset the effects of the medications?

I heard on a local news show that calcium can interefere with the thyroid or thyroid medication (I'm not sure which they said). However I have osteopenia (am 63 years old) and take Caltrate 600+ twice a day; I also have low thyroid and need to take Synthroid.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
