Hi PJ, thanks so much for explaining to our readers all the things they need to know about a fracture.  I'm glad you pointed out the precautions about not being able to take bisphosphonates if you can't sit up right for 30-60 minutes, which is crucial for the patient.  Forteo is being used in many cases to help speed the healing for many different types of fractures these days, but it is generally only used for a short period of time.  Quite a few who have sustained these rare femur fraxs are also taking Forteo when they have trouble with non-union healing, so at least we have this additional option now for those who are having trouble healing due to extended bisphosphonate use.
