I just saw this fascinating research that indicates that COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) patients suffer from greater arterial stiffness, and those with COPD as well as osteoporosis have even worse arterial stiffness. This is a topic near and dear to me because my grandmother, who has had several heart attacks, also suffers from COPD and osteoporosis. So it seems her combination of ailments may be more common than was previously known. The message I take away from it is, while everyone should be attuned to the risks of heart disease, if you have the combination of COPD and and osteo, it's especially important to be conscious of your heart health.
