Hi!   If I thought for one moment that I would be dead within a year if I fractured my hip, that not only would be frightening but also I would feel hopeless and depressed.  The opposite is true for me, I live one day at a time with osteoporosis and I am doing it the natural way.  I want a quality of life more than I expect  quantity of life.  I take my calcium, vitamin D, exercise etc. etc. etc.  Yes, we should be made aware of osteoporosis, however  it seems to me that death within a year of fracturing a hip has more to do with other complications.  Fear is more detrimental to our body, our bones, our spirit and life.  My solution to osteoporosis is live your life fully each and everyday and savor all of your precious moments.   Yesterday  has already happened and tomorrow will take care of itself naturally.  Blessings !!!!Big Smile

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us. I absolutely agree that one shouldn't live one's life in fear and anxiety about the possible consequences of a fracture. You are absolutely doing the right thing by taking care of your bones proactively to limit those risks!
