Saudi Arabia Texts Against Osteoporosis

More than a million text messages warning the public about osteoporosis will be sent by Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health as part of a national campain to combat the disease. In addition to the good news that yet another country is taking bone health seriously, the particular format for raising awareness -- SMS text messaging -- indicates that the outreach is taking into account importance of ensuring that young people receive this curcial message. The campaign also includes distribution of pamphlets and a hotline with info about the disease.
