As the new year approaches, it seems the perfect time to take stock of one's bone health and what one is doing to help stave off osteoporosis. In addition to eating a well-rounded, nutritious diet, many of us need supplements of calcium and Vitamin D for ideal levels of these nutrients (you can talk to your doctor about the right amounts for you). This happens to be an occasional weakness on my part, so my goal is to try to remember to do so first thing in the morning -- not just for a week or two, but all year long. In addition, I will try to maintain my regular exercise, and continue to eschew smoking and excessive alcohol to help keep fracture-free for the years to come!
