Calcium in a Smoothie -- and I Can't Taste It At All

  • I recently discovered a new, delicious way to get my daily calcium dose -- in a fruit smoothie! While my son and I are regular patrons of Jamba Juice (a national chain of fresh fruit blenders around the country), it was only recently that I noticed that we could get a free "calcium boost" mixed in with our beverage of choice, usually an "all-fruit" drink. It's 1,000 mg of calcium -- the amount the National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends daily for adults under age 50 -- and I can't taste it at all.


    This Jamba Juice option is definitely more enjoyable than swallowing a green pill, and also a great way to ensure my little one gets his calcium, since he has allergies to both cow's milk and soy.
