More work clearly needs to be done on the confounding link between osteoporosis and HIV. A recent study in France indicates that the connection is apparently not the result of antiretroviral treatment, but the theories about the causes of bone problems in this group are still quite speculative. Hopefully these dedicated researchers will continue to pursue this question until more answers are available.
