cost of osteoporosis

It costs 18 billion dollars a year to treat fractures resulting from osteoporosis, I just read. I can see how -- just in my family I know of 2 broken hips, shattered pelvis, spinal compression fractures, dislocated shoulder, ribsĀ and a broken wrist over the years. my wife has osteoporosis

she can't tolerate fosamex secondary to severe esphogeal reaction. her vitamin D baseline level was low at 14. her calcium and pth are normal. she has been prescribed forteo.
