I have been taking forteo for 18 months. I recently noticed that food does not taste the same.

Could this be a side effect of the medication??

Hi Janet:  Interesting question...  I have heard of this, but I didn't have this problem with forteo.  What time of day do you take the injection?  I would talk to your Dr. but I know some prefer to take the shot just before bed so it doesn't interfer with their meals.

If you look at the package insert, that comes with the pen, it mentions that you can take the shot anytime of the day, so you might want to try a different timing to see if that helps.  You can also call the Eli Lily help line and ask them.

I don't know if this is a side effect, but in the box that forteo comes in, it has the FDA literature on all the side effects so you may want to read that and see.

Good luck and let us know how this works out.
