Q: Can Fosamax actually cause bone problems like cancerous tumors and holes on the spine?

Hi letsembellish, welcome and thanks for your question.  Fosamax, as others, have side effects.  Here's list of them from our site (HealthSquare) and from Merck the manufacturer (on pages 17-19).

 

Neither of these two problems are mentioned, so it would be interesting to know where you heard this, and if this is something new that we aren't aware of.  I can't say wether or not these two things would happen, but I haven't heard it either.

 

If you are considering this med make sure you discuss all the ramifications of taking it with your Dr. so you'll be completely informed before making a decision.  The patient is the only one who can decide what is best for them so do some reading on this so you'll know what to choose.Smile
