Q: How much sodium in Evista?

Hello,

My doctor had suggested I try Evista for my bones. How much sodium is in it? I gain weight really quickly with sodium products.

 Thank you,

   Ann

Hi Anna, welcome... Here are the ingredients listed by the manufacturer of Evista.  I don't see any sodium in it, but to be sure, could you call you local pharmacist and double check?  Or you could ask your Dr. as well.

"EVISTA is supplied in a tablet dosage form for oral administration. Each EVISTA tablet contains 60 mg of raloxifene HCl, which is the molar equivalent of 55.71 mg of free base. Inactive ingredients include anhydrous lactose, carnauba wax, crospovidone, FD&C Blue No. 2 aluminum lake, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, modified pharmaceutical glaze, polyethylene glycol, polysorbate 80, povidone, propylene glycol, and titanium dioxide (Eli Lily Prescribing Info 2010)."  This information is on page 10 of the previous link.

Good luck with this and finding out about the sodium.

Hi again, I forgot to mention to ask the pharmacist to explain the ingredient magnesium stearate, in Evista, to be sure it's not salt/sodium related.
