Hi Susan, welcome and thanks for your question.  Would you rather take a oral weekly/monthly pill or a once a year infusion?  The choice would be up to you, plus you can read the article Phyllis gave you from Dr. Gonter, which should help to make a decision between the 2 meds.

 

If you have any stomach problems like GERD, the oral med (actonel) might be hard to handle since it can make these problems worse.  The Reclast injection has some gi side effects, but they are considered much less than Actonel because it doesn't travel through your stomach.

 

Do as much reading on the 2 to see what you think.  Here's a link to both of the drugs web sites--Actonel and Reclast--and when you get there read the "patient info."

 

Good luck deciding what to do and hopefully some of our members will tell you about their experiences with these two options.
