I'm 55, Family history of osteo, no child, bone scan shows osteo, would like to go Reclast? Agree?
Also just recently had a kidney stone. Which meicine to choose? Thank you, Mary Dillon
Hi Dillon, welcome and thanks for your question. I've never taken Reclast so I can't give you any personal experience on it. Has the kidney stone completely resolved without causing any permanent kidney problems? The reason I ask is Novartis warns those with either kidney problems or kidney damage against it.
If your stone is completely resolved ask your Dr. about it. Here's a link to the manufacturers web site (Novartis) so you can read the "important safety issues" and "side effects" for this drug which are both available from the link above. You can also look up insurance info and for infusion centers near you.
You mentioned Fosamax and Forteo in your tags, are you also considering those? Forteo is usually only prescribed to those with t-scores below -2.5 and a previous fracture, so I don't know if this applies. I don't know of any combo treatment that is recommended or that has been approved.
After reading about Reclast talk to your Dr. and take a list of questions so you can maximize your time when you go. I hope you and your Dr. can come to some agreement on what you should do. If you have another question just re-post
