My wife also had a atrial fib. attack in 2006 with 450 beats per minute and ending with a pacemaker implanted to control the pulse rate. The fosamax weekly has not helped her bone density problems. Had two operations on jaw due to infections.

Hi Jo, welcome... Sorry to hear about your wife. I would definitely discuss this with her doctor since Lukeran can suppress bone marrow function. Also, bisphosphonates like (Boniva, Actonel, Reclast, Fosamax, Zometa, Aredia etc.) can cause atrial fibrillation, or make existing a fib problems worse. Since she's had infections in the jaw, the Fosamax could possibly make that worse. I would compile a list of questions for her oral surgeon, cardiologist, and oncologist to find out if Fosamax could be making any of these things worse. The FDA put out a warning on both atrial fibrillation and osteonecrosis of the jaw from oral and iv bisphosphonates. Make sure your wives doctors are aware of this and try to find a solution.
Good luck to you and I hope you find out what to do for the treatment of her osteoporosis.
