I have been taking Evista for about 8 yrs.  The last year or so I have had recurring cramps in my calves, thighs, feet, fingers, and toes.  Could Evista be the cause?

Hi gbh, welcome and thanks for joining us.  So sorry you are having cramps in so many places, that's horrible.  Have you asked your Dr. what might cause this.  Since you've been taking Evista for 8 years it seems unlikely that would be the reason, but I would double check that with your Dr.

Have you tried adding magnesium or potassium (bananas) to your diet?  When I get leg cramps I can usually get it to go away with either of the two above.

Since we don't know for sure what's causing this, best to check with your Dr. to see if there is some other cause.  I've been taking Evista for a year and haven't had any cramps, but I do take mag. and potassium in my multiple vitamin and eat foods high in potassium when this happens and it gets rid of them.  Tomatoes also have potassium, orange juice, and avacado as well as others.

Good luck and I hope you can find out what's causing this.  If you need any other help just post again.

Hi gbh, I forgot to mention that leg cramps are listed as a side effect of Evista.  Since you've taken it so long and only recently had the cramping that is why I thought it might not be related to Evista.  I still feel that it probably isn't the drug causing this, but I certainly could be wrong, so check with your Dr to see what he/she says and also ask if there is a possibility that something else is causing this.  I hope the cramping goes away real soon.

Good luck...  If you have any other concerns just post again, we'd be happy to help.
