Q: What are the side effects & pros on Reclast? Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for your question. Reclast (generic name zoledronate) is used for the treatment of osteoporosis. It belongs to a class of medications known as bisphosphonates. These medications prevent the release of calcium from the bone, thereby preventing bone breakdown and reducing the risk of fracturese. Reclast is given as an IV infusion that lasts about 15 minutes, and may only need to be given once a year. Common side effects of this medication include constipation, nausea, and fever.
