Q: Does Boniva normally cause weight gain?

Hi Ellen Jones, welcome and thanks for your question.  We get a lot of questions about wieght gain with Actonel, Boniva, etc., and the drug company doesn't list it as a side effect.

 

Have you made any changes in your diet or have you considered that as we age all of us have to deal with a slower metabolism.  When we are younger our metabolism runs at a much greater pace burning what we eat.  As we age this mechanism slows down naturally and there isn't much you can do about it other than to include more exercise or making some simple diet changes.  There are products that claim to speed metabolism but I've never found one that works.  Unfortunately a slower metabolism is just a fact of aging Cry
