Can an old spinal fracture confound a bone density test?

I had a bone density test 2 yrs ago and i had no signs of osteopenia or osteoporosis in my spine.  Soon after that I fracture 3 vertabrae in my thorasic area in a boating accident.  I recently had another bone density test and it showed an 11.4% decrease in bone density in my spine. …
