I am 52, newly diagnosed, -3.5 spine and supposed to start Forteo. I was excited until I started reading about all the pain and cramps and other bad side effects. I want to hear the good side too.

Hi Red: I took Forteo for 2 years and did really well. I also didn't have any side effects other than greatly improved t-scores. I went from -3.6 spine to -0.9 spine (normal bmd) and my hip was -1.6 (osteopenia). I didn't have a scan of my hip on the first scan so I don't have a hip score to compare to, the Dr only ordered a spine score and it was done on a QCT. The scores above were on a dxa. I've had 4 bmd scans in all and the above are my most recent, the original scan was the -3.6 spine.
Good Luck...
