Hi leelee:  That's too bad that you are having side effects from the Boniva.  If your symptoms are pain in the joint, muscle or bone, that may be a symptom of the drug.  However, it's really hard to determine if this is from the drug, so I would talk to your Dr and make sure there isn't something else causing it.    Sometimes people have fewer side effects if they take the once weekly dose instead of the monthly.  If you don't want to do that, then other possible options would be taking a non bisphosphonate drug like, Evista, Calcitonin, Fosteum or Forteo (if you scores are really low).  The FDA released a warning on pain for bisphosphonates, do these sound like what you have?   You would have to decide which treatment you want to try since no one else can make that decision for you. Hopefully the above links can give you some insight on the various treatments, and you'll be able to find something else that's suitable.     Good luck with this.
