Hi kay, welcome...the side effects of Actonel, Fosamax and Reclast are quite similar.  Here's the prescribing info on Reclast from Novartis.  Read this and see what you think.  You can also look up other things besides side effects by using the search box in the pdf link above, by placing any word or words you want to look up.  The search box will search the document for all occurences of those words and highlight them.  To go through the whole document keep clicking the down facing arrow until you reach the last page.  If you want to go back through it in reverse order click the up arrow.  Pay particular attention to the "warnings and precautions" to see if you have any medical disorder that is contraindicated, i.e. kidney disorder or low calcium levels.

I would talk to you Dr. to see if Reclast would have side effects you might not be able to handle.  Also, keep in mind that we all react differently to each med, so you may not have the joint/bone pain problem, but it is listed as a common side effect just like it is in all bisphosphonates (Actonel, Reclast, Fosamax and Boniva etc).  If you need some other ideas for meds here's a list of all osteo meds that are currently on the market.

Good luck on your decision, since you are the one who has to make it with the help of your Dr.

Your welcome... read as much as you can and do let us know what you decide.  If for some reason you can't take these meds, the chart has the others that are available, that don't have these side effects listed.
