Don't let RA limit your routineLearn more now about a treatment that may help
Monday, May 05, 2008 Brenda asks

Q: What will help with body pain and headache on Forteo?

I can't take ibupropen, but tylenol and aspirin do not help at all with the pain I have.

I started administering forteo 5 days ago.

The doctor prescribed my Vicodin, but I can't imagine taking that for two years.

Might I expect these symptoms to diminish or subside altogether?

Hello Maria,

I didn't see any medication that might be helpful for the pain, but I have made an amazing discovery.

I found it is very helpful to take any calcium w/ Vitamin D supplement well before OR well after my injection of Forteo.  The nurse giving my seminar suggested that this approach would be helpful for muscle cramping, so I thought I would give it a try.  It has helped tremendously!  I am so pleased.

Tyleonol or aspirin does not help at all---but this approach has made an amazing difference!!

Hi Brenda,

I have pretty severe bone pain on Forteo.  I do take narcotic pain medication, mostly at night, I have had back pain from vertebral fractures so kind of need to anyway.  When I took the class given by Forteo the nurse suggested drinking gatorade around the time of the injection.  It is supposed to help with any muscle aches or cramping.  In my case I really have to get through this treatment, so I would say don't feel badly if you have to take something to help you through, if it is the best thing for your bones.  I hope you feel better, take care, tracy
