Hi Brenda, I have pretty severe bone pain on Forteo. I do take narcotic pain medication, mostly at night, I have had back pain from vertebral fractures so kind of need to anyway. When I took the class given by Forteo the nurse suggested drinking gatorade around the time of the injection. It is supposed to help with any muscle aches or cramping. In my case I really have to get through this treatment, so I would say don't feel badly if you have to take something to help you through, if it is the best thing for your bones.
