Q: I took Boniva for 4 months. The last pill was April the 15th. I had severe pain in my shoulder balde

My hands and arms are numb. How long will it take to get rid of this numbness?

Hi Carol, welcome...I'm sorry to hear about your severe pain.  Unfortunately there's really no way to say how long it will last.  Some people don't have this reaction to these meds and some do.  I would talk to your Dr. and make sure that something else isn't causing it.  You wouldn't want to over look some other type of injury that would cause this pain and numbness.  Pain is definitely a possible side effect from this drug, but I haven't read anything about numbness, so just be sure that something else isn't the cause.  Even though the manufacturer doesn't list numbness as a side effect it could be one that wasn't reported during the clinical trial on this drug.  If you'd like to read more about this drug here's the prescribing info on Boniva that lists all the side effects seen during the clinical trial.
