Q: would stopping boniva injections cause withdrawal sympton, tiredness, rash, flushing, digestive discomfort

I have been on boniva injections(once every three months) going on three years. I missed my last injection.(It's been about two months since my last injection) I have developed a itchy rash on my whole body. I am getting other symptom such as flushing, tiredness, digestive discomfort. I am 79. Is there a danger of stopping boniva abruptly.

Hi Diane, welcome... I'm not aware of any withdrawal symptoms, but I'm sure if you discuss this with your Dr. he/she would know.  I took Actonel and didn't notice anything, but that's just my personal reaction.  Also, I'm not a Dr. so you should ask about this to see if this could happen or if there is something else going on.  If you do have some other problem, then your Dr. surely needs to know about it!  I would not let this go; talk to your Dr. asap, to find out what could cause this other than stopping boniva injections.

Just for your information here's the prescribing info on Boniva injections so you can read about all the side effects.  It's a long document, but well worth the read and save it to, so you can refer to it later on.  If they gave you any literature with the injection, this should have been included, but they are usually hard to read because the print is so small and a lot of info is crammed on a small piece of paper.

Good luck and post again if you have another question.
