Has anyone had these Forteo side effects?
My mother is taking Forteo and within a week of taking the drug began to have severe memory problems, muscle weakness and extreme stiffness, and an overall feeling of being larthargic. Her doctor tells me that this is not from the Forteo and furthermore, he has not had a patient that has had any side effects from this drug. Do any other Forteo patients experience these effects?

Thank you for your question! There are published side effects of weakness and joint pain, each of these occurring in about 9 or 10% of patients taking the medication. I don't see anything related to memory problems, though dizziness and depression are possible. You can read more about the common side effecs of Forteo here. Every medication affects each patient different, so it is possible that the Forteo is causing these side effects. However, it's very important to rule out any other possible causes of the memory loss, weakness, and stiffness. If her doctor continues to disagree or dismiss your concerns, you may consider seeking a second opinion.
