Thanks so much for sharing your excellent question. I am sorry to hear you have osteoporosis, but it is great to hear you are taking a proactive approach and considering treatment measures. Your inclination is absolutely right to discuss your condition with your doctor -- although the bone scan tech is trying to be helpful, this person probably doesn't have the expertise of an MD regarding the potential risks and benefits of prescription medication for osteoporosis. There are a number of medications available, but not everyone is a candidate for Reclast or bisphosphonate medication. While Reclast -- a once-yearly infusion of zoledronic acid -- can be of great help to some individuals in treating osteoporosis, it is best to determine with your physician exactly which course of action would be best in your case.
