Do I need a letter from my Dr. to get the ForteoTravel pack through airport security?

Is it safe for it to go through the x-ray?  Where can I get a travel thermometer for checking how cold I'm keeping the Forteo with the ice packs? We're travelling to Italy for 12 days.

Hi Mom4boyle:  Great question.  Eli Lily recommends that you have a (1) signed letter from your Dr explaining why you need to travel with Forteo. (2) You should also carry a copy of the rx label. (3) Make sure the needles are in a sealed bag and not attached to the pen. (4) Have security hand check the bag since you can't put your pen through the x-ray, it may lessen the effectiveness of the Forteo.  You can also get info on how to keep the med cool during travel at the link below.

Eli Lily explains this at their website.  When you get to the web site you need your password to see the above link.  You'll find the password on the front of you Forteo id card, if you need help with the password let me know.

Good Luck and bon voyage.
