Q: I have been taking a multi-vitamin than has 800 mg of calcium. & 400 of vitamin D.

I was supplementing my vitamin D with a 400 pill.  I eat the remainder of my calcium through foods.  When I took more calcium supplements my blood calcium level was too high.  My multi recently changed to 800 units of vitamin D.  Should I not take the extra supplement now or is it safe to continue it.  I am on actonel for osteopoenia.  My spine is now in the normal range but my hip is slightly worse.  It went from -1.5 to -1.7.  I am 67 years old, and my mother has osteoporosis, with a history of many broken bones (both hips) and others.  I eat properly and walk daily.
