Q: What are the ramifications of having Actonel in your system a day prior to a Reclast infusion?

Yesterday I went to an infusion center to get my first Reclast infusion.  They were about to get started with the procedure when I asked the person at the infusion center if this medicine is effective immediately or whether I had to continue taking the Actonel.  The person at the infusion center said he needed to call my doctor immediately.  When he came back he was adament that could not get the infusion for a week after taking my last Actonel tablet.  What would the ramifications have been had I not asked this question?

Thanks....Kathy

Hello Kathy,

Good question, and one that's best to ask your doctor, especially since it was he or she who called off the Reclast injection for you. Great that you asked the Actonel-Reclast mix question at the infusion center, though - smart thinking. Let us know what you find out.

Best of luck,

Maria
