Q: My t score for my back is -0.8

I had a Dexascan done 7 years ago which revealed that  my back had a t score of -0.8 and my neck was -2.5. What do these scores mean? I have been on actonel once weekly since that time and Have taken 1200 mg of calcium with Vitamin D daily. My doctor never ordered another scan. What do the numbers of 7 years ago mean?

Hi Patty, welcome...

Normal bone is any score above -1.0

Osteopenia is any score between -1.0 and -2.5

Osteoporosis is any score below -2.5

If you want to see if you've improved on Actonel ask the Dr. if you can have another DXA scan.  Don't forget to take D3 (1,000 IU's) a day and do weight bearing exercise as often as possible.

Good luck...
