Q: Reclast IV

I had the reclast IV two days ago, ended up in the ER 16 hrs after taking the IV with severe pain in my chest, back and legs. I was running a 102 fever, and my oxygen level had dropped, so I had to be put on oxygen. The ER doctor said it was side effects from the IV, and sent me home. The following morning the pain hadn't stopped, and I telephoned my doctor who suggested I come into her office. My doctor ran several test, and later found out I was having an allergic reaction to the medication. I highly recommend people not taking the reclast medication....

Hi Phyllis, boy I am sorry you had this type of reaction to Reclast.  Are you feeling any better?  I hope so.  Did the Dr. explain how long this might last?  I was also wondering if you knew what type of test was completed to determine you are allergic to it.  This info may help other members.

You may want to consider notifying the FDA about this on their Adverse Event Reporting site , to warn others and include your event in their system.  This is a voluntary report, so you can decide what you would like to do.  It can also be reported through your Dr. as well or personally by the consumer-patient.

Get well soon, and let us know how you are doing, if that is agreeable to you.
