Q: Can Forteo affect regular periods of pre menopausal women?

I am a 54 year old woman still having regular monthly periods.  Since beginning Forteo over 2 months ago, my periods have stopped.  Could this be the result of using the Forteo?

Hi MerryMay, welcome... I can't find any mention of this happening in the Forteo literature.  I don't think this med could cause this affect, but to be sure, ask your Dr if this is possible.

Forteo is man-made parathyroid hormone, that is generally used for those who are postmenopausal, that said some Drs will prescribe this to women premeno if they have previous fractures and low bmd.

Good luck finding out about this.
