I'm going to start taking Forteo but am already taking Vericonizol and occasional antihistamines. What might be any issues?

Hi liz welcome and thanks for your question.  Good luck with the Forteo I hope you do really well.  Have you taken the class yet on how to administer the injection?  It's really very easy and you should also get a travel kit along with your first pen.  Also look for your personal Forteo card with ID/passcode so you can access the private web site on Forteo.  This site is very helpful and will explain many things about the medication which also includes videos on how to administer the drug.  There are 2 different types of pre-loaded pens, so make sure you choose the one that you get which should be the newer one that has less steps to priming the pen.  You'll understand more after your class, whether it's in your Drs office or at a meeting place Eli Lily sponsors.

Check with your Dr. about any side effects you may be concerned with before you take the first injection.  Here's some literature you can read about Forteo that list side effects and medications that are contraindicated.  The article is from the Cleveland Clinic on Forteo.  You can also call your local pharmacist and ask about vericonizol and antihistamines.  Neither of thes drugs are listed in the Forteo literature so you need to check with your Dr. or pharmacist to be sure there are no problems with combining these medications.

I did really well on Forteo and hope you do as well.

Good luck, and if you have another question just ask.
