My son who is nearly 17 years old, weighs 100lbs. at 5'9" has just had a DEXA scan.
His spinal T-Score was -2.58 and his hip T-Score was -3.27
These scores alarmed his Dr. who immediately took a series of blood tests.
The calcium came back in the normal range, but the Vitamin D came back below normal. The Dr. refered my son to a Pediatric Endocrinologist.
My son suffers from intractable migraines & takes morphine 15mg sustained release twice daily. He has been on numerous drugs to help control his migraines for the past 12 years.
In your opinion, could the low Vitamin D levels & lack of calcium be the underlying cause of his migraines?
He has not been able to tolerate dairy products & is suspected to have crohns as well. As far as treatments...where do I turn?
The next available appt. to see the Endocrinologist is OCTOBER 27th. I feel as if I need to do something proactive NOW!
Any suggestions?
THANKS!
