Hi Cecilia,
Thank you for your question. I'm not aware of Fosamax being a problem for glaucoma patients. I didn't see anything about it in the product information for Fosamax. However, there are other options. Boniva is a once-a-month tablet for osteoporosis. Actonel is available in daily, once-a-week, and once-a-month formulations. Miacalcin in an inhaled daily medication. I would suggest speaking with her doctor about which of these medications would be the best for your mother, taking into consideration her other medications and other medical conditions.
Best of luck,
Casey

Hi Bobby, welcome. I can't find any information that say's Fosamax is contraindicated for those with glaucoma. In a small number of people it did cause a type of eye inflammation, but it doesn't specifically say anything about glaucoma, which is an elevation of pressure in the eye and possible loss of sight if it advances. You might want to call your opthamologist and see if they've heard of this problem, since I can't find it in the Patient Information included with the drug. Also, a local pharmacist should be able to tell you something one way or another.
Good luck finding out more on this.
