I can tell you what my surgeon told me. He said my primary care physician was very remiss in NOT seeking agressive treatment for me immediately. I too was diagnosed at a "young" age. Not treating well cost me a fracture and surgery just 18 months later. The surgeon told me to get to an endo and get agressive treatment. He said to have a bone scan again in a year and if one drug doesn't work, try another, and if that endo doesn't want to change it, find another doc! He was very proactive in taking control of your own treatment and do what's best for you. If my pcp had done so, I might not be facing surgery on Monday!
