Q: Is gaing weight a side effect of Forteo?

I just started the injections 14 days ago and have been dieting for about 30. I have noticed since the two have joined I am having weight gain, and have not change anything in my diet.

Hi jomama, welcome...Weight gain isn't listed as a side effect of Forteo, but some members have mentioned that they've had this problem.  I took Forteo for 2 years and didn't notice any weight gains.

Those who mentioned this weight gain, found that it "might" help to inject into the thigh instead of the stomach, but there's no documentation on that, that I know of.

You could discuss this with your Dr. and see if he/she has a recommendation that might help.  As we age our metabolism slows down so it's not unusual to have weight gain from aging, but your situation does sound different. Here's a discussion we had on member's Forteo experiences if you'd like to read it and ask your question there.

I hope you can figure out a solution to this.  Good luck!!
