Hi Jean Loius lapin, welcome and thanks for your question.  Sorry to hear you have osteoporosis at such a young age.  Since all of the treatments for this disorder are for post menopausal women, I would ask your Dr. what's the best next step for you.  You may want to consider seeing a specialist in this area or one that treats IJO (idiopathic juvenile osteoporosis).  You may not have IJO, but you should see someone with a lot of education in treating younger individuals with osteoporosis.

If you have a University Hospital Med Center near you, that would be the place to find a specialist in this area.  Look for a Hospital that has an osteoporosis center, or a bone and mineral metabolism department and make an appointment.  If you are already seeing a specialist, then ask him or her, what treatment is best since I wouldn't know what is used for someone of your age.

If you also need to continue with the cortisone treatment this information may play a role in the type of treatment your Dr. may choose, so best of luck to you and I hope you find someone that knows a lot about this disorder in the young.Smile
