Hi Teresa,

Thank you for your question. It is possible to overdose on vitamin D, but not very likely. Hypercalcemia (too much calcium in the body) has been known to occur in patients taking more than 40,000 IU (international units) of Vitamin D per day. The recommended dose of Vitamin D is no more than 2,000 IU. Sympoms of Vitamin D overdose can include anorexia, nausea, vomiting, excess urine production, increased thirst, weakness, nervousness, and itching. Vitamin D toxicity can lead to renal failure and hypercalcemia.

Best of luck!

Casey
