Hi G Taylor, welcome and thanks for your question.  A bone scan is a good test to determine what might be wrong with your knee, but it's not generally used for osteoporosis.  A DXA scan is used to measure your bone density to determine if you have osteoporosis, but what you are experiencing doesn't sound like it's related to bone loss.   If you need info on osteoporosis or DXA scans post again.   Good luck...
