My mother is an Alzheimer's patient...I care for her 24-7. She is very sensitive to medications. Trying new ones she always gets loss of appetite and diahrrea. It is very hard for her and me to deal with this. Since moving to another state, the new rx coverage plan will not allow her to receive Boniva that she has been on since 2006 and it has not bothered her. Before Boniva we tried her on Fosamax and she immediately got diahrrea and loss of appetite. I stopped it and the Boniva agreed with her. Now I am arguing with a new place who has no sympathy about this situation and denied my appeal for her to be allowed to receive Boniva. They are stating that she will have to take Actonel. I have a very hard time with the fact that they are making her try other alternatives when she has such a hard time with new meds. I would like to know all the side effects from Actonel.

Hi again, I just wanted to mention that even though you've appealed this decision don't give up on the first or even second try. I know people who have been able to get a drug acception approved but it took *several* tries and a lot of persistance. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
Let us know how it turns out, and don't hesitate to get your Dr involved in the process.
