Q: reply to answer

Thank you for your reply, my only question is can the drug stay in your system for a year then causing a side effect when the year is almost over as in my case with the anemia and low white count. thanks

Hi Patti:  Thanks for clarifying your question.  According to Novartis the half-life of Reclast is 146 hours, even so, I would ask the Hematologist if there is a blood or urine test to see if the drug is still in your system, then you would know for sure.

I'm not a Dr. so I can't say for sure if this would happen.  Is the Dr. willing to look into this theory further?  If so, you still would have to deal with the anemia and low hemaglobin, since I don't think there is anyway to get the drug out of your system faster, if for some reason, it has lasted longer than 146 hours.  It's important for you to have this treated, so I don't know how important it is to find out the cause, unless you are worried about repeating the infusion and then in that case you need to know if Reclast is the cause.  Hopefully the Dr. is checking for other causes of this so you can resolve this situation.

Have you tried contacting Novartis and asking them about this?  Hopefully they could give you some information and maybe a suggestion or ask the Dr. to call them if he or she is agreeable to this.

Good luck, and if you have any other ideas or questions just post again.  Take Care!!
