Hi Alexis, welcome... Personally I've never heard of taking both of these medications at the same time. I'm wondering why you'd want to do that. Taking more of this type of drug doesn't necessarily mean you're getting more benefits. Of course this is your decision, and you should talk to your doctor about it, but I also wonder if your insurance would pay for both.
I keep hearing from our members that the insurance companies are limiting access to these drugs and many are only paying for Fosamax because it comes in generic. I would think about this carefully and do some reading on both drugs. It just doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but you and your doctor may feel differently. Some doctors may add Evista to a bisphosphonate (Boniva, Actonel, Reclast or Fosamax) but taking two bisphosphonates seems risky to me.
