Hi Angie,   Thank you for your question. Boniva and similar medications, including Fosamax and Actonel, have been associated with bone loss in the jaw. From the HealthLine website: "Symptoms of this condition may include jaw pain, swelling, numbness, loose teeth, gum infection, or slow healing after injury or surgery involving the gums. You may be more likely to develop osteonecrosis of the jaw if you have cancer or have been treated with chemotherapy, radiation, or steroids. Other conditions associated with osteonecrosis of the jaw include blood clotting disorders, anemia (low red blood cells), and a pre-existing dental problems." I'm not sure about having dental work done while taking Boniva, though I would think that as long as you're not having bone loss, it should be okay. I would recommend talking to either your doctor or dentist about it.   Best of luck, Casey
