Side effects from Forteo for me includes strong headache all night and loss of sleep. What to do?

Penny

My bones are such that I really need to build them as only Forteo is supposed to do, I guess.   But Forteo is making me sicker each day.  I cannot sleep much at night due to headaches which develop about 2 hours into sleep. Nausea joins it and I sense increased agitation/nervousness from these effects.

I do all the other things one should do to help themselves but am lactose intollerant which has certainly impacted my bone health.  My t score is under 2.5 .  I also take Evista.

I will try doing the injections every other night as suggested in one of these responses and otherwise will give up Forteo. The doctor has suggested going right to Reclast which I won't do.  I feel so sad to think I am falling apart.  Why does Forteo cause headaches?  Can I do anything to prevent them?

Hi Penny:  I'm sorry you are having so much trouble with forteo.  I wouldn't alter my dosing *without* my Drs approval.  If the side effects are too much to handle discuss this with your Dr and see if s(he) can come up with a better idea.

Headache is listed as one of the side effects, in the package insert, so I don't know if it will go away or not.  I took forteo and didn't have any side effects so it just depends on your system and how it metabolizes the medication.

I hope the headaches go away soon...
