I'm 5' and under 130 lbs. Will my bone density results be acurate.Carole M. Boston, ma
Hi peanut, welcome and thanks for your question. Sure you bone density results will be accurate. You are having a DXA, correct? If you are having a heel or wrist scan, then those are only used for pre-screening purposes, but they'll still give you a good idea on your bone density. If you are having a DXA, then that will give you an accurate t and z score; DXA's are considered the gold standard for measuring bone density. Was there a specific reason why you thought this test wouldn't be accurate? Your height and weight shouldn't have effect on the results.
Here's a link from our web site, on the DXA that explains the test, what happens, how to prepare for it and what the numbers mean.
If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.
